2k and 4k Frame-by-Frame Film Scanning

Film reels are fragile, aging artifacts, and each frame holds a piece of history that deserves to be preserved with care. We use a frame-by-frame digitization process to future-proof your 8mm, Super 8, and 16mm film reels—all while maintaining the original cinematic feel.

Before we begin the scanning process, each reel is carefully inspected, cleaned, and repaired to ensure the best possible transfer. We check for warping, brittleness, shrinkage, or vinegar syndrome (chemical deterioration). Dust, dirt, and residue are carefully removed using non-abrasive archival cleaning solutions to restore clarity and prevent damage to our scanners. If the film has broken perforations, splices, or torn frames, we repair it using industry-standard archival tape.

Unlike outdated methods that use projectors and recording devices, our professional-grade film scanners digitally capture each frame individually in 2K or 4K resolution—delivering superior clarity and color accuracy. We scan your film at the original 16fps, 18fps, or 24fps, ensuring playback speed matches how it was originally filmed—without flickering or ghosting.

We digitize both silent and sound film reels, ensuring that every piece of recorded history is captured. If your film includes optical or magnetic sound, we carefully extract and sync optical (black strip) or magnetic (brown strip) audio tracks for perfect playback.

We go beyond digitization by documenting handwritten notes, film canister labels, and reel markings to create historically accurate file names and maintain the chronological order of your footage.
